“Any chance I can convince you to look at the moon with me?” he asked.

“I’d love that,” she said. “Let me give this to Monica and I’ll be right back.”

She entered her villa and found Monica curled up on the couch watching a movie.

“Hey,” she said. “I thought you’d be out later.”

“He’s waiting for me, but I wanted to give you the dessert we brought you.”

Monica looked through the little window into the box and squealed with glee.

“My favorite! But wait, before you leave, you have to give me some details.”

“He’s perfect, Monica, he really is. He’s exactly like I always imagined: funny, sweet, charming. Tonight has been amazing and honestly, I don’t want it to end.”

“Well then, no need to hang around with me anymore. But real quick, before you go, the guy who brought my dinner was insanely gorgeous and he has tomorrow off. He offered to show me around. I hope you don’t mind.”

“No, as long as you’re happy.”

“I only tagged along so I could lay on the beach, but if I get to spend the day with a hottie, I’m not going to turn that down. Plus I think it’s crazy romantic that you ran into your old crush. Now get out of here so I can get back to my movie and eat this cake.”

Keira found Griffin standing at the end of the pier. He turned around, reached for her hand, and kissed it before pulling her close to him.

“You were standing here alone when I first arrived,” he said. “If I’m right, you were the king of the world.”

Keira laughed and covered her face with her hands. “Oh, I can’t believe you saw that. I thought I was alone. But actually I wasn’t the king of the world, I was the queen.”

“Well I’m sorry, but you were doing it wrong.”

“Wrong? You mean there’s a right way to do it? Or are you going to find me Leonardo DiCaprio?”

“I thought maybe I could fill in for him.” Still holding her hand, he pointed to the bottom bar of the railing. “Step up on that.”

He supported her as she stepped up, then intertwined their fingers together as he spread her arms out wide. She giggled as the wind swept past them.

“At least there are no icebergs out here,” she said.

  “Nope, none.”

He lowered his head and brushed his lips along the length of her neck to her shoulder. A shiver ran through her and she gripped his hands tightly.

“Are you cold?” he asked as he lowered her arms and wrapped his tightly around her waist.

“No, I’m fine,” Keira said, breathless. “I just don’t know…”

Her voice trailed off. She couldn’t finish her sentence. She couldn’t even think. Was this it? Was she going to sleep with Griffin Goodrich, the man she had been dreaming about her entire life?

Griffin wasn’t part of her plan. He complicated things. Her plan was a stranger, someone she wouldn’t have to worry about running into back home. Someone she didn’t grow up with. Someone she wouldn’t develop feelings for.

“I want to make love to you,” he said.

She turned towards him, and his lips crushed hers before his tongue slipped into her mouth. Her worries disappeared. She would regret it if it wasn’t him and now that he was here, she knew no one would ever compare.

As he picked her up and carried her towards his villa, she thought about returning to Seattle and never seeing him again or even worse, seeing him with someone else. She needed to protect her heart. And she needed to stick to her plan. She didn’t want anything complicated.

“Before this happens, we have to agree about something,” she said.

“Anything. I’ll do anything for you.”

“What happens on vacation stays on vacation.”

Confusion flashed across his eyes, but then he nodded slowly.

“If that’s what you want,” he said.

“It is. We’ll have this week, and that’s it. You can go back to your world and I’ll go back to mine.”

“But what if I want to see you again?” he asked. “I already know a week isn’t going to be enough.”

She shook her head, unable to believe he would really want that. She had to remember her plans. She had priorities, like her job, which she spent all these years in school for. Having a boyfriend wasn’t part of the plan, even if he was the guy, Griffin Goodrich.

“No,” she said. “It’s just easier this way.”

“I promise I’ll make you change your mind.”

He carried her through the villa and into the bedroom, kicking the door closed behind him.

  Chapter Six

As Griffin carried her, she wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing her soft body against him. He might have been able to control himself before, but as his mouth claimed hers and a soft moan escaped her lips, he knew he had to have her.

He released her so she was standing and gently pushed their bodies against the wall as his lips closed over hers again.

Griffin squeezed her soft body against the wall as his tongue hungrily explored her mouth. Sliding her arms around his back, she pulled him closer, crushing her bosom against his muscular torso.

Leaving her mouth, his lips found a sensitive spot on her neck. Her body slipped so he wrapped his arm around her waist. He knew her legs had gone weak from his kiss.

As she ran her fingers through his hair, he lifted her leg around his hip then slowly pulled her skirt up. He pressed his bulge against her thin panties, feeling her warmth.

He continued to kiss her neck, and she pulled him tighter to her. He wanted her even more. As his fingers wrapped around her panties, she put her hands against his chest.

He could sense her hesitancy but didn’t understand. It took all his might to pull his lips away from her smooth skin, but he did because none of this was about his own pleasure, it was all for her.

“Is something wrong?” he asked as he looked deep into her eyes.

Her face was flush with desire and longing. She bit her lip and lowered her eyes.

“I need to tell you something,” she said.

“Did I do something wrong?” He cupped her face and focused on her grey eyes so she understood how he felt. “I just want you so badly right now. But if I’m moving too fast, just say the word.”

“No, it’s not that. You’ve been amazing and I know there’s a lot of years between us, which is why this really doesn’t feel like it’s fast to me, but…” As she hesitated, her voice grew quieter. “I’ve never been with a man before.”

Griffin couldn’t help but be confused by what she said. Keira was gorgeous, smart, funny, and her body had curves in all the right places. Men probably threw themselves at her. Maybe he didn’t understand her right.

“I don’t understand,” he said. “Are you saying you’re a virgin?”

  Keira nodded slowly.

“You’re twenty-six and beautiful, I know you’ve dated men before, I remember hearing about, what was his name? Derek, Devan…”

“Darren,” she said. “He was my high school boyfriend. My only boyfriend really.”

He took her hand and led her to the bed so they could sit while they spoke. “You didn’t date in college?”

“No, you know me, I had my plans. I needed to graduate at the top of my class so I could get into the law school I wanted. And in law school, I was focused on doing well so I could get a job at Turner and Turner.”

“You have no idea how jealous I was of Darren when I heard you were dating him.”

She laughed. “You had nothing to be jealous of. And the reason nothing ever happened between me and him was because he cheated on me.”

Griffin shook his head as a variety of curse words filled his head, all directed towards Darren. “Maybe that was just fate’s way of saving you for me.” He touched her chin, then leaned towards her to kiss her forehead. “We don’t have to do anything. I’m just happy to be near you.”

“But I want to,” she said. “I’d be
lying if I didn’t tell you that one of the reasons for this trip is that I want to let my hair down. I want to enjoy things and not think about my plans and what I should be doing. I was joking, but I told Monica that I was going to lose my virginity on this trip.”

He laughed as he shook his head. “I don’t believe that. You really plan everything, don’t you?”

“Why not?” She shrugged. “Seriously though, when I saw you were in the next villa, I couldn’t help but think you were there for a reason.”

Griffin was sure she was right, fate wanted them together. He watched her lips move as she spoke. He wanted to be respectful and keep listening to her, but the rounded edge of her pout beckoned him.

He kissed her softly, just to satisfy his hunger, but she wrapped her arms around him and returned his kiss.

  “I want you,” she whispered.

Swiftly, he wrapped his arm around her back and positioned her in the middle of the bed while his tongue explored her mouth. He wished she was naked so he could caress her bare skin, but he didn’t want to push things too quickly for her. He wanted her first time to be the best it could be.

  “Are you sure?” he asked.

“Less talking and more, well, you know.”

She giggled, and it sent him over the edge. He knew he’d be able to somehow stop himself if she asked him to, but his restraint was gone.

He undressed before she could change her mind. As he stood naked beside the bed, Keira’s normally stoic expression was filled with excitement. His arousal swelled as her eyes widened in amazement.

Propping herself up on her elbow, she reached out to him. He lay beside her and sank his fingers into her hair as his mouth found hers.

His hand slid down her torso to her hip until he reached her skirt. Slowly he pulled it up, scrunching it in his hand as it rose higher, wishing he could simply rip it off her.

He had had enough of her clothing. He wanted to see her, to worship her body the way she deserved. Forcing his lips away from hers, he pulled up the edge of her sleeveless tee and peeled it off her. The more of her untouched skin he saw, the more his lips needed to devour.

He deftly removed her bra, tossing it aside. As his hands drifted over her breasts, his fingers squeezed her tightening nipples. She moaned as his tongue flicked her tight buds before he brought it into his mouth.

Her body trembled from his touch. As he moved from one peak to the other, his hands gripped her skirt and her panties and slid them down her body until she was naked.

Spotting a beauty mark on her thigh, he moved his lips down her silky skin towards it. The lower his lips moved, the more she invited him to her womanhood by spreading her legs. He wanted to taste her.

He nibbled on her inner thigh, close to her mound, and her back arched. Every touch awakened her body more. When his mouth finally reached the apex of her legs, he ran his tongue up and tasted her most intimate place.

Her moans filled the room as he moved his tongue skillfully within her moist heat. She gasped as her hips bucked in response to his pleasuring her, and he sank his fingers into them as he continued.

As he sucked in her sweetness, her body tensed before she let out a long gasp and cried out as the release took over her. He watched as her back arched and her head fell back. His hands slid over her breasts, pulling her taut nipples before she went limp.

She giggled as she panted with a satisfied smile across her face. She reached for him and pulled him close as she opened her mouth for his kiss.

His mouth hungrily consumed hers as his hands explored her body. Soft fingertips moved from her breasts, past her soft, quivering belly, towards her wetness.

As he slid his fingers over her swollen nub, he teased her opening before slipping them inside. A gasp caught in her throat, followed by a deep groan of pleasure.

He didn’t know how much more he could take. His member was stiff and aching for her, but he wanted to make sure she was ready.

Slipping his fingers inside again, she clutched at him with desire. Her eyes focused on his as she bit then sucked on his lip. As if she was reading his mind, she answered his unspoken question.

  “I’m ready,” she whispered.

He positioned himself between her legs, and her heat made it hard for him to control himself. He pressed the tip of his erection against her moist opening.

Slowly, he thrust himself into her, a little at a time. He didn’t want to hurt her, he wanted her to feel nothing but pleasure.

With their eyes locked, he pulled himself out, then slowly thrust a little deeper. Her hips rocked with his as her legs wrapped around him, begging for more.

The feeling of her tight heat surrounding him forced him to hold back more. He was ready to explode, but he contained himself. Once his erection was fully in her, he groaned as she tightened around him.

  “Are you okay?” he asked.

  “Oh yes, yes!”

  “Now you’re mine.”

The words escaped his lips. Something deep inside of him knew that her body was made only for him.

As their hips moved in a steady rhythm, her body buzzed underneath him. Her breathing quickened in his ear with soft moans of excitement. He couldn’t contain himself anymore. He thrust more quickly and she held onto him tighter, pressing her body against his.

Her body tensed again as a gasp turned into a long moan. Her body shook, tightening around him even more, and sending him over the edge until he released inside of her.

He held her, unmoving, while they caught their breaths. Afraid of hurting her, he rolled onto his back, taking her along with him so she was lying on top of him.

As her breath steadied, he stroked her hair and kissed the top of her head. He enjoyed the weight of her body on top of his.

While she rested, he delicately caressed her soft skin and breathed in her sweet scent. He couldn’t imagine a more perfect time than lying there with her.

Finally, she let out a long sigh and looked up at him. The corners of her mouth slowly came up before she stretched to reach his lips with hers.

It was the perfect end to a perfect night. Until Griffin remembered he forgot one little thing.

  Chapter Seven

Griffin held Keira while she slept. Her soft skin felt perfect against him, like it was made specifically with him in mind. He had no idea how many women he had slept with, but none of them made him want to hold them through the night. He usually left as quickly as possible.

As he thought about their lovemaking, he realized he forgot to wear a condom. Panic filled him as he thought about being a father because it wasn’t a role to be taken lightly.

He didn’t think he had ever slept with a woman without wearing a condom before. He always played it safe. He always had condoms with him, just not this time.

When he had made the deal with his father, he decided to not pack any condoms. He thought it would keep him from sleeping with anyone. He obviously was wrong.

He didn’t like that Keira only wanted a vacation fling. Something wasn’t right about that, and he couldn’t help but wonder what she heard about him. Keira wasn’t the kind of woman to sleep around. Her being a virgin supported that, but it also explained why she didn’t think about condoms. She wasn’t going to have sex with just anyone.

She yawned deeply before her eyes fluttered open. Griffin didn’t want this to be the first thing he said as she woke up, but he couldn’t get it out of his mind.

“I’m sorry, I got so wrapped up in making love to you that I forgot about a condom.”

Keira’s eyes widened and then she breathed out a sigh of relief. “It’s a good thing I’m on the pill then.”

Griffin felt relief rush over him, but at the same time he couldn’t help thinking about it more. If there was ever a woman he wanted to have babies with, it was Keira. The thought of having a family with her made him smile and set his soul at ease.

As Keira rolled over to go back to sleep, he listened as her breathing grew steady. He pulled he
r close, fitting his body to hers, enjoying the velvety touch of her skin against his as he fell asleep.

The week in Bora Bora flew by. Griffin and Keira were inseparable. Griffin insisted that Monica join them on some of their outings, but between her dates and enjoying the pool, oftentimes Griffin and Keira found themselves alone. As much as they pushed for Monica to join them, she loved the relaxing luxury of the villa too much sometimes to leave.

Griffin couldn’t shake the thought that once their vacation was over that Keira wanted nothing to do with him. He had avoided bringing up their original agreement because he didn’t want to start a fight, but now that their time was coming to an end, he refused to let that happen.

They were seated on his terrace, finishing breakfast, when he decided enough was enough. She was his, there was no way he would let anything get in the way of that. Not even her.

“You should move in with me after we get back,” he said.

She stared at him from over her cup of tea. He couldn’t read her face. She had that lawyerly stoicism down pat. If there was one negative thing about her, Griffin would have to choose that. He could never tell what she was thinking.

“No,” she said before taking a sip. “We already talked about this. I just graduated from law school, and I’m not going to let that go to waste.”

“Who says it has to? I’m not asking you to stop working, I’m asking you to move in with me.”

“Actually, you told me to move in with you. You didn’t ask.”

  “Move in with me.”

“Still not a question,” she said.

“You already gave me an answer,” he growled. “Is it going to change?”

Keira looked down into her mug but didn’t respond. She didn’t need to, he knew the answer was no. He just didn’t understand why.

“I…” love you, he thought. He couldn’t say the words. He couldn’t put himself out there when there was a greater chance of him getting turned down than hearing the words back. “Never mind.”

“What?” She set her mug down and reached out to put her hand on his arm. “Tell me.”

  “Don’t worry about it.”
